Full Colour Rubber Backing Mousepads

Sharp. Tough. Wipe-clean. Built to last on any desk.
We call these Rubber Laminated Mousepads
This is a mousepad built differently. Hard on top, grippy on the bottom, and with your full colour artwork sealed safely in between — protected from spills, scratches, and the daily wear of a busy desk.
Three Layers. One Tough Pad.
What makes this mousepad stand apart is its construction. Three distinct layers, each doing a specific job, bonded together into a single flat, firm, long-lasting unit.
Layer 1 — The Clear Laminate Top The uppermost surface is a thick, textured clear laminate — hard to the touch, smooth enough for precise mouse tracking, and tough enough to shrug off spills, dust, and abrasion. The subtle surface texture gives your mouse sensor consistent, reliable glide without resistance. Because it's clear, your artwork shows through with full fidelity — every colour, every detail, exactly as designed. And because it's sealed, nothing gets in. No staining, no fading, no wear.
Layer 2 — The Full Colour Printed Sheet Beneath the laminate sits a 128gsm printed sheet — a high-quality paper substrate carrying your artwork in full colour. At 128gsm, this is a substantial, premium-grade paper that holds ink sharply and reproduces photographic detail, gradients, and fine typography with precision. Your logo, your campaign, your brand — printed with clarity and sealed for permanence.
Layer 3 — The Semi-Rigid Rubber Base The foundation of the pad is a 1.5mm semi-rigid rubber base. Firm enough to keep the pad flat and stable on any desk surface, flexible enough to lie completely flush without lifting or curling at the edges. The rubber grips the desk naturally — no sliding, no repositioning, just a pad that stays exactly where you put it.
Precision Die Cut to Shape
Once the three layers are bonded together into a single composite unit, each mousepad is precision die cut to its final shape. This means the laminate, the printed sheet, and the rubber base are all cut simultaneously and cleanly as one piece — producing sharp, consistent edges with no misalignment between layers, and no raw or unfinished borders.
Die cutting also opens the door to creativity. While the standard rectangle is always available, the same process can produce custom shapes — rounded corners, oval formats, or bespoke outlines that follow the contours of your logo or brand mark. Every unit in your order will be identical, cut to exact tolerances, run after run.
Why Hard-Top Works
Soft fabric mousepads are comfortable, but they absorb everything — spills, dust, oils from your wrist, and over time they show it. A laminated hard-top surface sidesteps all of that. It wipes clean with a cloth, it doesn't absorb liquid, and the artwork underneath stays as vivid on day 500 as it did on day one.
For branded mousepads in particular, this matters enormously. Your logo isn't sitting on top of the surface where it can be scratched or worn away — it's sealed beneath a protective layer, completely untouchable.

Rubber Laminated Mousepads — FAQs
Q: What is a rubber laminated mousepad?
A: A rubber laminated mousepad is built from three bonded layers — a printed card insert carrying your full-colour artwork, a double-laminated optical-read surface on top, and a solid rubber base underneath. These layers are bonded together and then die-cut to shape, producing a firm, flat, high-quality mousepad that has been the most common corporate branded mousepad in South Africa for decades.
Q: What makes rubber laminated mousepads different from cheaper foam backing mousepads?
A: The key difference is the rubber base. At 1.5mm thick, semi ridgid rubber is substantially heavier and more stable than the thin foam used in budget mousepads. It won't lift at the corners during use, won't slide around the desk, and maintains its flat shape over years of daily use — qualities that cheaper alternatives simply can't match.
Q: What shapes are available?
We have standard cutting dies for Round, Square, Rectangle, and Oval mousepads. Other custom shapes are possible, but please note that a new die will need to be produced, which carries a once-off tooling charge. For custom shapes, a minimum order of 500 units is recommended — smaller quantities are possible but the die cost spread over fewer units makes the per-unit price significantly higher.
Q: What is the optical-read surface and why does it matter?
A: Modern optical and laser mice use light sensors to detect movement. A textured, non-reflective surface allows the sensor to read accurately, resulting in smooth, precise mouse control. Our rubber laminated mousepads use a professional-grade optical-read laminate specifically designed to work with all modern mouse types.
Q: How is my artwork applied?
A: Your artwork is digitally printed in full colour onto a card insert, which is then double-laminated — first bonded to the rubber base, then covered with the optical-read surface laminate. The result is vivid, protected print that won't scratch, fade, or peel under normal office use.
Q: What sizes are available?
A: Our standard size is 230mm x 185mm. We hold existing dies for standard sizes, which keeps costs down. Custom shapes and sizes are possible but require a custom die, which adds a once-off tooling cost — contact us for a quote.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity?
A: Due to the die-cut production process, the minimum order is 50 units. This makes rubber laminated mousepads ideal for medium to large corporate gifting campaigns, office rollouts, or promotional giveaways.
Q: Are these manufactured in South Africa?
A: Yes. Rubber laminated mousepads are fully manufactured locally in South Africa, giving you faster turnaround, easier communication, and the assurance of consistent quality throughout production.
